Between 1938 and 1945, India issued One Rupee coins bearing the name of George VI, the last Emperor of British India. These coins marked the final series of One Rupee coins minted in India. During George VI's reign in India, significant historical events occurred, including the Quit India movement, the Naval Mutiny, and the partition of India, leading to the establishment of two independent states, India and Pakistan. Coins bearing his name were issued in India from 1938 to 1947 he passed away at the age of fifty-six due to lung cancer, and his daughter, Elizabeth I, succeeded him as the monarch.
